Evergy
Evergy, formerly known as Kansas City Power & Light (KCPL), is the investor-owned utility on the west side of Missouri. Evergy also serves a large portion of Kansas residents, with over 1.7 million customers in both states.
Evergy offers a suite of energy efficiency programs and rebates to assist their customers in saving energy and money.
Programs
On-bill financing programs like PAYS® create opportunities for customers to improve the energy efficiency of their homes and pay the costs back to the utility over time on their monthly electric bill. This is done with the savings exceeding the monthly payments, resulting in a net reduction of the member’s bill. At the moment, Evergy offers PAYS for Missouri customers only, not Kansas. A certified contractor assesses the home and determines if there are energy-efficiency upgrades that will meet the PAYS eligibility criteria.

Evergy’s income-eligible weatherization program offers free in-home upgrades and financial assistance to weatherize a home. Participants must meet 200% Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. Click here for more information.
Evergy partnered with Kansas City and Mid-Continent Public Libraries to help customers understand their home’s energy use. Customers can check out an Evergy Power Check Device to identify electricity use of the appliances and other devices in the house.
This is a pilot program limited to Evergy Missouri West residential customers in St. Joseph, Maryville, and surrounding areas. Customers with a Lee’s Summit, Blue Springs or Grain Valley address are also eligible. This pilot program offers appliance pickups at no cost. Receive $75 plus an extra $25 if you recycle your working room air condition or dehumidifier.
Rebates & Incentives
Evergy offers a variety of rebates for heat pumps, HVACs, air sealing and insulation, and more. These rebates are available for items installed on or after Jan. 1st 2023.
The Evergy Marketplace offers discounted prices on energy efficiency products like LED lightbulbs, thermostats, water fixtures, and more.
Evergy’s EV charging rebate offers up to $500 on a Level 2 home charging system. There two types of EV chargers. A Level 1 EV can charge on a standard 110-volt outlet, but this can take several hours to fully charge. A Level 2 EV charger uses 240-volt charging and is the next level up. Evergy offers two two rebate options:
- OPTION 1: Install a 240-volt (Level 2) charging station and receive a $250 rebate.
- OPTION 2: Install a 240-volt (Level 2) charging station and sign-up for Evergy’s Time of Use or EV plan and receive a $500 rebate.
